In this together- Help for our hurts, hang ups and habits

Public·3 friends

Sometimes the ache in my heart is so heavy, reminding me of people and things I have loved and lost.

Anyone else feel like this?

You know the routine; you push yourself past your painful circumstances, put that smile on and go on with life, because you have to and you need to.

But some nights that pain creeps up on you and you fall asleep with tears running down your face; hiding from others because you have had to be strong for so long.

It’s tough to see where God is taking us sometimes isn’t it.

It may feel like a desert at times, or day at a sunny beach with laughter and ice cream cones; or it may feel like a long, cold, gray, foggy season of life where you just don’t know where you are going - other than living in auto pilot.

I have walked with the Lord pretty much my whole life. So I know Him well, yet I don’t always feel Him and that causes frustration and confusion.

But God whispers His love for us and His truth to us in our ears and reminds us to trust who He is.

This is why it’s crucial to know His word and to intentionally reflect on His faithfulness to us in the past.

We also need to continue to dig into scripture and meditate on His word and His promises that He has fulfilled all throughout time, and put our trust in the character and goodness of God.

Today as I sat in church I was reminded that even though I’m surrounded by wonderful people who love me, and that I am married to a wonderful Godly man and have wonderful children that I adore;

No one person can fill my empty soul, only Jesus can do that.

Fix your thoughts on Him-

Hebrews 3:1- “dear brothers and sisters who belong to God and are partners with those called to heaven, think carefully about this Jesus whom we declare to be God’s messenger and High Priest.”

But there is another voice that will whisper in your ear -the devil.

He will fill your ear with all sorts of lies; telling you that you don’t matter, that no one cares, and that God doesn’t see you—but remember what God says about Him-

he is a liar.

Satan can’t get your attention when your mind is preoccupied with something else. That’s why the Bible repeatedly tells us to keep our minds focused:

“Fix your thoughts on Jesus.’”

So, remember who you are, who you serve, and how big our God is.

Your turn:

  1. What does this passage mean to you?

  2. What encouragement can it give you today?

“Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.”

‭‭Micah‬ ‭7:8‬ ‭
