The fact that at some point in our lives we will wrestle with this question,
reveals that God has written into our souls a longing for there to be a God.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 "He has made everything beautiful in its time.
He has also set eternity in the human heart;
yet, no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end."
He has revealed Himself through what he has made.
Psalm 19:1-2 says, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge"
Romans 1:19-20 Paul adds, "For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse."
Psalm 139:13-18, "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you."
Nature points us to Him. Our human bodies point us to Him. The galaxy itself shouts there is a God! Just look at all of God's creation in all it's beauty; from a fragrant flower to the vast galaxy, from a sweet, juicy peach to the fierceness of the lion's roar, from the baby in a mother's womb to the smallest of amino acids, God has designed it all exactly how He desired it to be - displaying His wisdom, His beauty, His creative mind, and His power, and so much more.
What you believe about God will have a direct impact on how you view your identity, your purpose and your values that will affect almost every area of your life, including how you:
1. Think and feel
2. The way you react to circumstances
3. How you approach God (and other relationships)
To help guide you – you have to ask yourself some questions:
1. What is guiding your core beliefs? Are they grounded in truth or feelings? Are they based on what others believe about you? Are they based on passed life experiences (good or bad)? Are they influenced by your culture and peers? Are they constantly shifting with the opinions of others or your own emotions?
2. Or, is what you believe about God found in the truth of God’s word and who HE says He is?
