Having a Mind Like Christ



Positive thinking sounds useful on the surface. Manifesting is a big one these days as well. Think back to the last time you had a bad day.


Someone probably told you to “Think positively, “ or “Keep your chin up” or “things will get better.”

Whether or not you took that advice, it is beneficial to try to maintain your sense of optimism in spite of obstacles or setbacks.


However, we can go too far where we believe our thoughts can determine our outcome.

“Think positively, do good & good will come back to you."


The problem with this belief is that it puts the control of your destiny in your hands. To muster up faith, believe, disciplined thought, emptying yourself of negativity, remove negativity from your life and only focus on being positive is how many believe they can bring good to themselves.


But does this really work?

What about the poor?

Didn’t they have enough faith in being able to provide?


What about someone who is in an abusive relationship?

Is that somehow their fault because they don’t think positive thoughts about their abuser. Or if at some point you develop a serious illness, is this your fault? Not genetics or environment, etc.?


Trusting in our positive thinking is not enough-

Where we place our faith is crucial to our overall well being.


When Jesus faced difficult situations, he didn’t think positively- He fought back with God’s Word.

We have the ability to exercise control over our thoughts.

Read these verses then write out how they can help you develop a healthier mindset to your life when.

  1. Allow God to transform you by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2

  2. Let the message of Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives as you teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives..” Colossians 3:16.

  3. “Demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” Corinthians 10:5

  4. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8
