Jesus Last Words - Day 1

As our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, hung on the cross, he managed to murmur seven last statements.

Today is the first of those statements.

This week is known as Holy Week -A week where we reflect on the very purpose Christ came to earth.

Oh how there are so many things we can learn from Jesus.

Even to the last moments of His life - we see, feel and hear the depth of His heart…

“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.”

Luke 23:34

Even after all Jesus has gone through-

After the betrayal, the arrest, the flogging, the mocking; nails being driven through his hands and feet-

Jesus cries out “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.“

Jesus forgives all who had a hand in crucifying Him and those involved in his death.

Jesus’ last seven statements are treasures that teach, encourage and model to us His pure love, His purpose and a call for us to learn how we are to live as His followers.

Who do you need to forgive today?

It’s not a suggestion

Its a direct command for the Lord Himself.

Ephesians 4:32

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

Matthew 6:14-15

“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Luke 6:37

“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven;

Colossians 3:13

“Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.”
